You had “blown up” in front of your new LG TV in the living room, you had prepared popcorn and various drinks and you were ready to enjoy watching that long-awaited film in the company of your friends… it’s just a pity that the appearance of the annoying subtitles spoiled your evening! Of course, they are very useful in many circumstances, but this was absolutely not the case. Anyway, you could have solved it by disabling them.
How do you say? That was exactly what you would have liked to do but after wasting more than half of the first half fiddling around with the TV settings you couldn’t get a spider out of the hole? I’m sorry, really. If you want, however, I can explain to you now how to proceed, maybe it can come in handy for next time.
Do you want’? Yes? Great. So let’s do this: take a few minutes of free time for yourself, position yourself comfortably and immediately start focusing on reading this article of mine focused precisely on how to remove subtitles from LG TV . Eventually, you’ll see, you’ll be ready to state that it was actually a total no-brainer. How about we bet?
Remove subtitles from LG TV settings
Want to find out how to remove subtitles from your LG TV? Then follow the instructions on what to do below. I inform you that this can be done in three different ways, using the settings of the TV itself.
Just keep in mind that a given system may be valid on a specific LG TV model while not on another, it all depends on the choices made by the company. Since I am not aware of the exact model of LG TV in your possession, however, I cannot tell you precisely which system to adopt in your case. Consequently, there is nothing left for you to do but try and verify for yourself which is the actually valid method.
First method
If you want to find out how to remove subtitles from LG TV, the first step you need to take is to grab the TV remote control and turn on the TV by pressing the appropriate button on it, the red circular one at the top left .
Once this is done, press the SUBTITLE button that you always find in the upper left part of the remote control, select, using the arrow keys , the Off option in the Subtitles menu that appears in the upper right corner of the TV screen and then press the OK button on the remote control to confirm the choice made. Et voila !
Second method
As an alternative to the procedure described above or in any case if the button for managing subtitles is not present on your remote control as I indicated in the previous step, you can still succeed in your intent in another way.
First, obviously turn on the TV by grabbing the remote control and pressing the appropriate button, the red circular one , then press the Settings button (the one with the gear ) or press the Home button (the one with the house ) or the Smart one and then select the Settings item on the screen, using the arrow keys .
Then select, still using the arrow keys on the remote control, the word General in the menu that appeared on the screen, choose the Subtitles item from the further menu on the right and select the Deactivate option . Then confirm the choice made by pressing the OK button on the remote control.
Third method
As I told you a few lines above, there is also a third system to be able to remove the subtitles from the LG TV, you can consider it as an alternative to those previously indicated. I’ll tell you right away.
First, turn on the TV by pressing the circular red button on the remote control, then press the Settings button (the one with the gear ) or the Home button (the one with the house ) or the Smart one and then the Settings item on the screen, selecting it with the directional arrows .
Then select, again using the arrow keys , the Accessibility item from the menu that opened on the screen, choose the wording Subtitles in the further menu on the right and press the OK button on the remote control, so as to bring the relative switch to Off . Here it is!
Remove subtitles from Teletext
Subtitles can also be enabled (and disabled) via Teletext. Did not you know? Well, now you know about it.
Therefore, if the subtitles are shown to you on your LG TV only and exclusively when watching Rai and/or Mediaset channels, follow the instructions to deactivate them which I have provided below. The procedure to start is very simple, don’t worry.
Rai
Do you see subtitles appear only and exclusively when you watch films, dramas and TV programs on Rai ? If so, most likely, you accidentally activated them by pressing a series of keys on the remote. This is not so improbable given that digital terrestrial offers the possibility of enabling subtitles for the deaf using Teletext, activating page 777 or 778 of the same.
To deal with this, first of all grab the remote control of your LG branded TV and then go to one of the Rai channels and dial the number 100 or press the TEXT button on the remote control. Done!
Proceeding in this way, the teletext, which previously was only superimposed for activating the subtitles, will return to full screen and you will be redirected to the main Teletext page. The subtitles will then be deactivated and you can resume watching TV as usual by pressing the EXIT button on the remote control or the TEXT button again .
Mediaset
A discourse in some ways similar to that of the Rai channels that I explained to you in the previous step can also be done for Mediaset ones . Therefore, if you are watching a film, a TV series or any program on the channels of the well-known television broadcaster and you see the subtitles appear, it is most likely because you have activated them by mistake via Teletext, from page 774 for Iris , from page 775 for Rete 4 , from 776 for Italia 1 and from 777 for Canale 5 .
To get rid of it, the procedure to be initiated is not very different from the one seen just now. So try to grab the remote control of your LG branded TV and then go to one of the Mediaset channels mentioned above and type in the number 100 or press the TEXT button on the remote control. That’s all!
By doing so, the subtitles from the Mediaset broadcasts watched will be instantly removed. You can therefore return to the normal viewing of TV channels by pressing the TEXT or EXIT button on the remote control again.
In case of further doubts or problems
Although you have followed my instructions on how to remove subtitles from LG TV, you have not succeeded in your intent? Are you having problems other than the above and/or looking for more precise information about your LG TV model for subtitle removal or other related operations? In this case, I strongly suggest that you visit the support area attached to the company’s website. From there you can consult manuals and ad hoc solutions available on the net.
Once the site has opened, fill in the Enter Product Code/Keyword field on the left by typing in the exact code of your TV (you can find it on the back of the appliance, shown on a special label) or its name (generally always shown on the back or on the sales package) and click on the relevant suggestion from those you see appearing in the list that opens.
On the page that will subsequently be shown to you, you will find all the info relating to your TV model, the files for updating drivers and software and the manuals in digital format as well as a whole series of indications referring to the most common questions. You will also find some dedicated video tutorials.
Alternatively, you can search by model by pressing the appropriate button on the left, selecting TV and Home Entertainment from the Category menu , then TV from the Product menu and indicating what you wish to know from the further section that appears. Then click on the OK button to be taken to the relevant page that contains the information you need.
If then, despite proceeding in this way, you are unable to solve your problems, the advice I would like to give you is to put you in direct contact with customer assistance . You can do it via chat, email or phone. Below you will find exactly how to proceed in all three cases.
Chat – If you want to receive assistance via chat, visit the dedicated web page , click on the Chat button located at the bottom, then on the None of the above button located in the new “balloon” that appears and, finally, on the Televisions button . Then type in the reference keyword (e.g. subtitles ), press the Send button , click on the link offered to you and look for the instructions best suited to the model of television you have. If the problem does not resolve itself, type the word operator in the chat and press the Send button, in order to activate the live chat service through which you can speak with a “real” operator. In the latter case, keep in mind that the service is active from Monday to Friday, from 9.30 to 17.00.
Telephone – If you want to receive assistance by telephone, grab your handset or your smartphone, dial 199 600 099 on the keypad and follow the voice guide instructions to be able to speak to customer service. The service is subject to charges, can cost a maximum of 11.88 cents/min (depending on the operator from which the call is made) and is active from Monday to Friday from 09.00 to 18.00 and Saturdays from 09.00 to 13.00, except public holidays.
Email – If you wish to receive assistance via e-mail, connect to the page with the specific form to submit your request, fill in the latter with the data indicated, taking care to report the reason for your contact in great detail and press the Send button . to send it all to the company. You will be contacted as soon as possible by an LG operator who will help you dispel your doubts and solve your problems.
