Lost the TV remote control? We give you alternative solutions!
Imagine coming home after a long, frustrating day watching your favorite TV series. The series starts in 5 minutes so you rush to the TV room. But there is a problem. You can not find the remote control! With only two minutes left before the showtime, you frantically search for the missing remote control without success. You look at the clock again, just because 7 minutes of the series have already passed. You feel very disappointed.
Has it ever happened to you? Remote controls get lost or broken all the time but such accidents should not hinder your TV time. Here are three steps you can take to begin the process of preparation for mediation.
Turn your smartphone into a Universal Remote
We live in a time where almost everyone owns or has access to a smartphone. So why not use your smartphone to control your TV? Follow these simple steps and you will be back to watching TV again.
Samsung mobilägare
Samsung produced its own Samsung WatchON app. Just install the app, fill in the required information and create a Samsung account. When this is done, select your TV brand and pair your phone with your TV.
Android users
There is no built-in app like other Android users but all hope is not lost. There are several TV remote apps that can be downloaded and used. For example, with the Sure Universal TV Remote App, you simply need to download the app, and search for any TV on the same Wi-Fi network. Pair your phone with the TV and you’re ready!
There are several TV remote apps available. So feel free to review them in the Google Play Store to see which layout and remote control suits you. Keep in mind that apps will be updated from time to time and may contain pop-up ads that can sometimes be a little frustrating to handle.
iOS users
iPhone and iPad users have some options, such as Next Guide Remote, which allow you to control your TV, accessories, and all Apple-related products. The downside is that it works with a device called “Beacon” which is sold for about SEK 900.
Another option is Smart which lets you control your TV and related accessories. It also works with an optional accessory that you can connect to the TV’s audio jack. The accessory costs approximately SEK 200.
If you prefer to live on the “free” side of life, you can download iRule which lets you control your TV as long as it is connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Buy a Universal remote control – lost the remote control for the TV
Some of us may be old-fashioned and prefer a real remote control as opposed to a smartphone remote control. A quick search on Google shows that the most affordable, easily accessible, and reliable universal remote controls cost around SEK 300. Most of these brands can be programmed to pair with up to four devices including TVs, DVD players, surround sound systems, and other TV accessories.
Fortunately, each remote control comes with instructions that describe how to use this new remote control for your TV.
You can buy a new one from the manufacturer in some cases if you have lost the TV remote control
If you are unsure, you can always check with the manufacturer of your TV if they sell extra remote controls. Contact the manufacturer for more information about this option, but for example, Philips TV does not sell any, but then you need to buy a new one if you have lost it.
