How to tune Samsung Smart TV TV channels

First of all, you should know that the channel tuning procedure can be done in two ways, which you can choose according to your needs. So, I’m going to tell you how to tune channels on Samsung TV by following both procedures.

In particular, I will use as a reference the way to tune TV channels on Samsung Crystal UHD type UE43TU7190UXZT : depending on the model used, the menu items to be selected may be slightly different. Anyway, don’t be afraid, following my “tips” you will certainly achieve your goal.

Automatic tuning

Do you want to tune your Samsung TV channels automatically? For this, the first fundamental step you must take is to turn on the TV (if you haven’t already done so, of course) and take the device’s remote control to navigate the home screen, where you’ll find all the main functions. Then use the arrow keys to access the menu at the bottom of the screen and move the pointer to the left until you select the Settings item by pressing the OK key.

In the window that opens on the screen, select the Channel or Broadcast item and, on the next screen, choose the Auto Tuning or Auto Tuning Settings item, then the Auto Tuning option again and finally press the Start button.

If you’re asked to enter a PIN while doing this and you haven’t set yours yet, refer to your TV’s instruction manual for the pattern unlock code and enter it into the remote control. However, you can try 1111 or 0000 or again 1234, for most Samsung TVs it’s one of those. Read more here.

At this point, select the option referring to the use of the antenna; as channel tuning mode choose Digital item and as channel sorting choose auto sorting option. Then go to the Search button and press the OK button on the remote control to search for channels.

On the TV screen, therefore, you will see a progress bar appear indicating the completion status of the operation along with the channel currently being tuned in and the total number of registered channels. The procedure will end in a few minutes, after which you just need to press the OK button on the Close item and you will finally be able to watch movies, programs and television series broadcast by your favorite channels without any problems.

If at the end of the automatic tuning a message is displayed regarding the numbering conflict of some channels, let the television or decoder automatically solve the problem by choosing the appropriate option.

Manual tuning

Have you automatically tuned your Samsung TV following the instructions above, but many channels are not visible? For other reasons, do you prefer to manually tune channels on your Samsung brand TV? Then follow the instructions that you find in this paragraph and in a short time you will be able to meet your needs.

To succeed in your attempt, the first fundamental step you need to take is to identify the correct frequencies of the channels you want to watch on your Samsung TV. To obtain this type of information, just visit the Internet sites of the stations you are interested in and look for the section dedicated to frequencies and/or coverage in the national territory.

For example, by connecting to the appropriate page on the Mediaset website, you can search city-by-city frequencies for Canale 5 , Italia Uno , Mediaset Premium and all other stations in the group simply by selecting the region, province and municipality in the appropriate menus and , then clicking the View Channels button at the bottom.

For other broadcasters, you can search Google , using keywords like [station name] frequencies . By doing this, you will be able to find the information you are looking for without any particular problems.

Alternatively, you can connect to the Dtti website, an independent portal not linked to any broadcaster, which makes it possible to find the frequencies of all digital terrestrial channels from city to city. To identify the frequencies referring to the stations of your interest, connect to the home page of the site and select the name of your region (eg Lazio ) and click on the exact name of your city (eg Lazio). Roma ) and you will see the complete list with terrestrial digital channels and frequencies.

In all cases, try to identify the frequencies referring to the station you are interested in so that you can use the information obtained to tune the channels on your Samsung TV.

Once that’s done, you can finally move on to the real action by changing your TV’s settings. So try turning on your Samsung TV (if you haven’t already!) and picking up your remote; after that, use the directional pad to get, as I described to you in the previous chapter, the Settings menu. Now, select the Broadcast or Channel item; then on the Advanced settings item (or Channel settings depending on the model at your disposal) and finally on the Manual tuning option by always pressing the OK button on the remote control.

After this step, you can choose one of the two options between Digital Channel Synchronization or Analog Channel Synchronization, then press the Novo button, selecting it again with the OK button on the remote control. In the first case, select the item Antenna , indicate the channel , frequency and bandwidth of the stations you want to tune in the respective menus on the screen and start the search using the appropriate search button. The procedure should last a few seconds and, once the channel has been identified, it will automatically be stored in the chosen position. If you chose the second option instead, set the Program , Color System , Audio System and Channel options and finally press the Search button.

In both cases, confirm your choice by pressing the OK button on the remote control on the Store button to complete the procedure and update the channels. If the channel is blocked using the Channel blocking function, you will be asked to enter the PIN I mentioned in the previous chapter: see the same instructions.

In case of problems

Despite following the above instructions step by step, are you still unable to tune channels on your Samsung TV? During the search for the various broadcasters, did problems arise that you would like to solve but don’t know how to do it? Maybe I can help you with that too. Check it out below and find out if, among the various tips for dealing with this or that setback, there is something it can do for you. Good luck!

DVB-T2 support

As you probably already know, the transition to the new digital TV and the DVB-T2 HEVC standard should take place by 2023 , so it will be necessary to have a television or a set-top box compatible with these standards. If you bought your TV a few years ago and have reception problems with terrestrial digital channels, you may have a model that is “stuck” to the first generation DVB-T standard.

You can find more details on the subject in my post dedicated to the new digital TV.

Poor signal

You still can’t see one or more channels or they go “intermittently”? This could be due to a signal issue due to malfunctioning local broadcast systems or the TV antenna. To fix this, you can try tuning again. If that doesn’t solve it, I suggest you look for a technician to check the state of the antenna.

And if you have a little more free time and you also have a lot of attention and concentration, you can try to adjust the orientation of the TV antenna yourself by following the instructions I gave in my article on how to orient the TV antenna. . The procedure, however, remember, is not very simple for those who have no experience in installing television systems. So don’t tell me I didn’t warn you.

Channel orientation

When zapping between the various channels, did you notice that they are not ordered correctly? This is easily resolved by going into the TV settings again.

More precisely, you must go to the settings menu , then to the section dedicated to the channels or broadcast and the one relating to the classification of the various stations . Some Samsung TV models also have options to sort channels alphabetically and in other custom orders. For more details on what to do, you can read my article on ordering TV channels where I went on to talk about the subject in more detail.

Use of satellite dish

If you don’t receive the digital terrestrial signal in your area or if you want to tune in to the various channels using a satellite dish, you can read my post on how to point the satellite dish for more information on what to do.

To find out which are the correct frequencies of the television channels, you can consult the sites I suggested in the previous lines, when I showed you how to manually tune the channels.

Are the problems you encountered not included among the above, or are you looking for more precise information about your Samsung TV model for channel tuning or other related operations? So I can do nothing but suggest that you visit the support page on the company’s website and consult the manuals and solutions available there.

To do this, connected to the Samsung website, click on the TV button in the Help section for your product on the page, the category to which the product belongs and the exact model of the TV in the displayed list. Alternatively, type the model code directly into the appropriate search field.

On the page that will be shown later, take a look at the Solutions and suggestions section, and see if you find an answer to your problems or doubts there. You can also download the TV user manual and any additional documentation available by clicking on the Download item located next to each element in the Manuals and downloads section.

If you still don’t get the support you need, I suggest you take a look at the many open discussions on the official community page. You can carry out a targeted search using the appropriate bar located at the top, or you can select a reference discussion topic from those proposed in the center of the site.

If you find it convenient, you can also contact Samsung through the call center, email, chat, social networks, as well as by going to a call center. See how, exactly.

  • By calling 800 726 7864 .
  • By sending an email after completing the appropriate online form available by clicking on the Write an email button .
  • Chatting with support through the appropriate Internet page , using the Start live chat button .
  • By writing to the @supportosamsung account on Twitter .
  • By going in person to an assistance centre , locating the one closest to your area via the specific web page .
  • By making an appointment for a repair at a Samsung center by filling out the form attached to the reference Internet page .

Finally, I would like to point out that another thing that might be helpful is to do a Google search by typing in the keywords related to your issue. In this way, you can find one of the numerous enthusiast forums that discuss and exchange ideas on the operation of various Samsung TVs and devices.

I also advise you to “jump” to YouTube where often video indications are interested in carrying out various operations, including tuning into channels.
