The only ultra-thin antenna that grips!

We adore many things about this antenna. We cannot even describe all of the things that we like about it.

When we first saw this antenna it, of course, the special, paper-thin looped design. The main model has a range of up to 35+ miles, and the other models of this antenna have a bit higher range. That is what we liked too. This antenna is perfect since you have the ability to choose whichever fits you best when it comes to the range.

1.1. Design and Features

Since this antenna has a sure grip technology, it is able to receive signals in all directions. In other words, this is a multidirectional antenna. You can see for yourself that this is a long-range antenna that has a range of up to 35+ miles.

This antenna might be good if you live in a more urban area since it does not have that big of a range. While, on the other hand, the other models of this antenna are perfect for suburban and rural areas, nut, we will get to that in a moment.

This Eclipse antenna is an indoor antenna that can easily be put on your walls. You can just place it on your wall without the fear of damaging it! This antenna is perfect for dorm rooms, living rooms, or even RVs.

Besides all of this, you must know that this is not an amplified antenna. Other versions of it have amplifiers, but this main model doesn’t.

When it comes to the frequency of the antenna, it works on only UHF frequency. We have to admit that the reception of this antenna is really at a high level. Namely, this antenna has a beam angle of 70 degrees from 470 to 700MHz. When it comes to the maximum gain, the gain is around 4 dBi.

As you can see for yourself, this antenna is built to be perfectly compact for living spaces. The setup is super easy. And, the antenna itself includes a uniquely formulated strip to peel so that you can stick this antenna to any kind of smooth surface.

We can say that this paper-thin antenna is somewhat small and very lightweight. It weighs around 4 oz and is nine inches wide.

When you buy this antenna, the instructions will come in the box with it. We completely loved that the coaxial cable also comes with this antenna in the box. The length of that detachable high-performance coaxial cable is 12 ft.

1.2. Performance – ClearStream Eclipse antenna ECL-A

Antennas Direct Clearstream Eclipse TV Antenna Reviews of ECL-A & ESGXG-1

There were no channels that had a bad resolution, or whose signals were broken. This is a very important thing especially if you spend a lot of time in front of the TV. The quality of all channels was pretty much amazing, and we loved that almost all of them had the exact same amount of quality sound as well.

This antenna was able to give us all of the best quality local TV channels. We loved how crystal the TV picture was. The resolution of all of the channels was 1080p, and we really felt like the actors were in the room with us.

Since we own a 4K TV, and since the antenna also supports 4K resolution, our experience with it was even better.

We can say that the sound was super clear, as well as the picture and that we did not have any kind of problems with this antenna.

The testing of this antenna was done in New York City. We do live in a crowded area, but, we are sure that this multidirectional antenna would work perfectly well in suburban areas as well.

When we turned our TV on, we were pleasantly surprised to see that we have received about 50 channels. Some of them were our local TV channels, and some were international HD ones.

[Sample buyer review…  Great indoor antenna if you’re close to the towers.

This is a top-rated antenna for good reason! I tried an antenna from Costco and it didn’t pick up nearly as many channels. I’m 4 miles from the towers and I put it in a window facing them. Because of the direction of the towers, I got a much better signal angling it against a curtain (see picture) rather than putting it flat against the window.

I suspect some people are having problems with antennas because they don’t realize how finicky modern (digital) TV signals are. Antenna placement makes an enormous difference. Most important of all is DIRECTION – your antenna needs to have as clear a line of sight to the towers as possible (find your towers on antennaweb.org). Then you want as clear of a shot as you can get – walls are bad, windows as less bad, higher is better. If you put it on the opposite side of the house, you probably won’t get a signal at all.

If you can measure the signal, you’ll have more luck getting the best location. My HDHomeRun tuner allows me to measure the signal, and I could get signal quality improvements of 10-20% just by moving it a couple of feet and angling it slightly differently – it was the difference between occasional pixelation and a clear signal.”]

2.2. Design, Features, and Performace

The ESGXG-1 model is a second model of these eclipsed antennas. Namely, this antenna weighs around 1 pound and is around 12 inches wide.

This antenna also uses sure-grip technology in order to deliver the best quality signal to its users. Besides that, the antenna uses a patented element design and a 20db amplifier to boost up weaker signals. Because of the amplifier, this antenna has a reach of up to 50+ miles.

The sure-grip allows you to position this antenna on any kind of surface without having to worry about damaging them.Antennas Direct Clearstream Eclipse TV Antenna Reviews of ECL-A & ESGXG-1

This multidirectional antenna can enable you to free HD channels such as ABC, CBS, and NBS. All of those channels will be available to you in full HD 1080p resolution.

[Sample buyer review…  A great improvement over a Winegard flat-panel antenna; it actually works.

This review has two purposes. One is to give you positive feedback on this product. I also want to provide a review and steer you away from the awful placebo antenna that it replaced.

I confess that I was a bit skeptical when I decided to buy this product. I had previously purchased a Winegard HDTV antenna in a flat sheet format. The antenna had a number of design flaws that I suspect a good mechanical engineering or materials science undergraduate would have spotted. I wrote to the company to point out the design flaw, and the cracking problems that it caused. Not a peep from them. Channels would fade and disappear even though the transmission tower is less than 10 miles away. You were continually reorienting the antenna to try to improve the picture. One day you would get a channel, the next you wouldn’t. My wife had a running joke when the channel disappeared: “Are you breathing again? Stop it. You just made the picture disappear again.” The Winegard product was a disaster.

The most difficult part of setting up the ClearStream product was getting it out of the packaging. Installation was a snap. I would encourage exploring multiple locations. Moving the antenna less than a foot resulted in a pretty dramatic change in the number of channels. Once a good placement was established, all the channels that I wanted to come in and the picture was very clear. This was almost never the case with the Winegard disaster. I waited a few days before submitting this review because I wanted to be sure that it was not just an aberration. It wasn’t. The channels have been coming in well and reliably.

The only question left is why I waited so long to try it. It is pretty aggravating to watch a playoff game, have it come down to the last minute, Curry has the ball, and suddenly your screen goes blank and you get a “Signal strength is low.” message across your screen. If I could make the Winegard excuse for an antenna suffer I would. As for the ClearStream, I am very pleased I bought it.”]

Warranty

You will receive a lifetime warranty on parts for any one of these three antennas. You do not have to worry about anything because the warranty is able to cover everything.

The user manual and the installation process

The user manual is available in PDF format online. We will live a link HERE just in case if you need to inform yourself about something.

The installation process was super easy, it will take you less than five minutes. We will break down the process for you in just a few simple steps. You should know that the installation process is the same for all of the Eclipse models of this antenna.

What comes in the box:

  • The ClearStream ECLIPSE antenna
  • Peel and Stick Strip
  • 2ft coaxial cable

The first thing that you need to do is to take everything out of the box

  1. Clean any surface and allow it to dry before applying the peel and sticking the strip to it
  2. Peel the white wax paper off from the strip
  3. Choose which side you would like to show in your home and place the peel and strip stick on the opposite side of it.
  4. Peel the clear film from the strip
  5. Position the antenna on the cleaned, selected surface and firmly press it along the strip area.

That is pretty much it. You will next need to turn your TV on (after you have previously connected it via coaxial cable to the antenna) and find the channels.

Our take-Clearstream eclipse antenna review

Let’s talk for a bit about our experience with this antenna and whether or not we have had some kind of issues with it.

Why is this antenna important and for who?

People that live in small apartments somewhere in urban areas should consider this antenna as an important household item. It will save you so much space inside the house, and time as well. You can set it up in just a few seconds.

Since this is an indoor antenna, as you already know, you do not have to worry about setting it up on a roof, attic, or balcony, you can place it on a wall right next to the TV.

We know that this kind of antenna could save you so much trouble, especially if you have a somewhat small apartment.

Why do you need this antenna and why should you buy it

Firstly, we totally recommend you to buy this antenna because of the price and the quality. This antenna costs around forty bucks and you will hardly find an antenna that costs the same and that has a better quality.

This antenna will provide you with excellent channels and even better quality.

How we picked and tested this antenna

We have tested this antenna in a small apartment in New York, Manhattan. We are really much pleased to say that this antenna was super easy to install and that we installed it on a wall right above our TV.

The installation process took us only a couple of minutes, three to be precise. We think that even a child can install this antenna anywhere with ease!

After that, we connected the TV to the antenna via the coaxial cable that comes with it in the box. The fact that we did not have to buy the coaxial cable separately really made us happy, and we did not have to spend more money on it by buying It separately.

The amount of quality and the number of channels that this antenna was able to give us is just amazing. We got about 50 channels which is pretty impressive considering that this is an Indoor antenna.

Is there a better alternative?

We have struggled to find an antenna that costs a bit less money than the main model of this Eclipse antenna, but, we did manage to find it in the end.

Have a look at this HDTV Amplified Antenna. This is also a digital indoor antenna that can be put right next to your TV. It costs around 28 dollars, and you will receive free local channels in 1080p resolution. Read more ClearStream Antennas

FAQs

1. Do amplified antennas really work?

Yes, they do work. We have done a bunch of antenna testing over a couple of past months and we can say that we are completely sure that amplified antennas are a great choice. They are especially helpful if you do not live near a broadcasting tower.
