What is a DB4e Antenna?

Antennas Direct DB4e antenna is a multi-directional HDTV antenna. This antenna is able to capture many UHF and DTV signal frequencies. It is made for long-range reception.

Why do we like it

When it comes to the design of this antenna, we are really digging this bowtie look. It is way different than all of the other antennas that have a bit modern look. This unique look actually helps with the reception and makes the installation process way easier.

Antennas Direct DB4e Indoor/Outdoor HDTV Antenna ReviewBesides that, we have to mention that we were able to establish a great reception between this antenna and the closest broadcasting tower. We received a crystal clear picture as well as good quality sound on our TV. What did we like about this antenna?

  • The bowtie design
  • The good-quality picture
  • Affordability
  • The range

Design and Features – Antennas Direct DB4e 4-Element Bowtie TV Antenna

This antenna poses a cutting-edge patented technology that is definitely a huge leader in the new technology market. As you can see yourself, this antenna has a bowtie design. This design has been popular for over 60 years now. The antennas were much bigger before, but now they have 2x the power and are half the size of those older bowtie antennas.

When it comes to the range of this antenna, it is pretty big. Namely, this antenna is able to reach out for signals that are even 60 miles away from the broadcasting towers. This is a pretty remarkable number considering that the antenna is perfect for rural and suburban areas where there are many heavy foliage or roofing materials that may reduce the strength of the incoming signal.

Besides all of that, this is both an indoor and an outdoor antenna, which means that if you live in a house, you can easily set it up in a place that suits you the most. An attic is also a place where you can place this antenna.

This antenna, unfortunately, does not come with an amplifier. But, you should know that you will not need one because of the strength that it has.

This antenna is made to catch only signals that are on UHF frequency. And, you should know that the reception is pretty good considering that no VHF signals can be caught with this antenna. We were able to receive around 55 channels that were all in great resolution.

When it comes to the maximum gain of this antenna, is around 15.8 dBi. This antenna weighs around 5 pounds and is 22.69 inches wide. In other words, it is a somewhat big antenna that also has reflectors.

Those reflectors focus on the antenna’s power due to the bigger range, but, it also provides protection against multipath interference.

When you buy and receive this antenna, you will be also getting all-weather mounting hardware in the box, which includes the adjustable mast clamp, and the user manual of course.

Highlight Features

  • This is both an indoor and an outdoor antenna
  • This antenna has a range of up to 60+ miles
  • The antenna is 4K ready
  • This is a multidirectional antenna that uses patented technology
  • It has a bowtie design

Performance

After we have installed the antenna, we went right into our house to check and see how many channels

we will receive it. We were actually pretty happy with the number of channels (55) and their quality as well.

We have to say that we are impressed that an antenna like this one was able to receive free HD channels such as ABC, CBS, NBC, and more, and all of that in full HD 1080p resolution.

The sound on all of the channels was pretty brutal and super clear as well as the picture. When we have listened to one of those local music channels, we felt like the performer was right in our living room holding a private concert only for us. It felt perfect!

We have tested this antenna in our house with a backyard in Boston. We do not live that near to the broadcasting tower, which means that the antenna has done its job well and provided us with excellent reception!

This antenna should be considered an important item by those people that just need a good antenna in their home.

We assure you that this antenna is able to give you everything that you need. The main thing is the amazing reception and an even better crystal clear picture. What more could you possibly need?

People that like to spend time in front of their TVs should also consider one of these antennas as an important item. Since this antenna is able to give you free HD channels, you will for sure fall in love with it instantly.

Why do you need a DB4e antenna and why should you buy it

If you are in a financial situation where you cannot really afford to spend that much money on expensive cable bills, and you need to find a way to save up, this antenna might be the perfect solution for you.

Namely, since the antenna is able to provide you with free HD channels such as ABC, NBC, PBC, and many others, you can easily forget about the expensive cable bills. You can cancel them and just enjoy watching free HD channels for free!

[Sample buyer review…  I did the research, cut the cable, and it was worth putting up the extra money for all the right stuff.

First off. After significant research (As I suggest you do.) I decided to cut the cable and I have been pretty happy.
Before you purchase, you must be aware of what is around you.

SPECIAL NOTE: I got the antennas and not a rotating antenna because there are 4 tv’s in the house and I was not about to fight with my wife and the three kids over what direction the antenna was going to point. So I got stationary antennas and pointed at all the transmission towers. Problem solved. This may work for you or may not.

1) Your geographical location because Antennas work off the line of sight. So if you are next to a mountain or a bunch of trees and buildings blocking, your success is not going to be as advertised.

2) Be clear of power lines. For in if there is one within 200′ of the antenna and if you have to point at the power lines, your reception will not be as advertised.

3) Check the distance from the Transmission tower to you and review obstructions that are in between. I used Antennas’ direct map on their website. Very helpful and very nice website.

Once everything looked good. This is what I purchased. I decided to go all in and do it right the first time. Within 3 months after cutting the cable, the parts were paid for.

  • 8 Element Bowtie Indoor/Outdoor HDTV Antenna
  • Clearview 2 Antenna
  • Splitter to reverse
  • Channel Master CM3414 4-Port Distribution Amplifier
  • Mast (Then had to replace it because it bent over in a wind storm and I replaced it with a 1″ pipe. I believe the Chimney will come down first before the mast bends again.) So note, get 1″ pipe to save yourself from having to go back up.

The DB8e out of the box was well built (Even after it blew over and slapped the roof pretty hard it held its own). Instructions were clear and I was able to have it put together in about 30min (I take my time). The DB8e performed as advertised. I am in an elevated area in the country with no obstructions. The Antenna by itself got me roughly 50 channels. The furthest Transmission tower from me was 82mi. I got roughly 70% reception. So I was happy and knowing once I added the amplifier, I wouldn’t be disappointed.

After adding the Clearview 2 and the Amplifier. I was more than satisfied. In the 82mi tower, I was getting 98% and I got all the channels from all the towers around Ellicott City, Md. I also got all the channels from all the towers in Philadelphia, Pa (40 mi. away). I also got all the channels from all the towers in York, Pa. (50mi.).

The end result was 81 channels. I’m happy with that, happy with the research I did, happy with the results.”]

How we picked and tested this antenna

We live in a house with a backyard in Boston. The first thing that we had to do was to decide whether we are going to place this antenna on the inside or on the outside of the house. When we finally decided that it is better for us to place it in our backyard, we got all of our tools ready for assembly.

We were able to follow all of the user manual instructions with ease, and the installation process took us only a couple of minutes! There were no troubles whatsoever.

After that, we went into the house to check and see the number of channels that we have received and whether or not they had good quality. You cannot imagine our happiness when we saw that we receive around 55 channels.

We love that we got to enjoy spending time watching and enjoying good quality channels, and hopefully, you will too if you decide to get this antenna for yourself.

Is there a better alternative?

When it comes to the antennas that have a similar bowtie design to this one, you can check out this Five Star Outdoor Digital Amplified antenna.

This antenna has somewhat similar features to the DB4e one, but it costs way less money. Of course, the Db4e one has way better quality than this one, but, if you are on a budget, you can check this one out HERE.
